Abstract
A new genus of Gymnoascaceae is described to include a single sp. TRIPEDOTRICHUM herbariensis. The new genus and sp. are based exsic-cati material,Rabenhorst Fungi Europaei No. 179, labelled Myxotrichum chartarum, which was also present, located in the New York Botanical Garden herbarium. The new genus is characterized by dark-colored ascocarps bearing dark, septate appendages which are apically uncinate. Appendages are borne from peripheral peridial elements which merge in groups of 3 to form the appendage. Peridial hyphae are often enlarged at the septa in Tripedotrichum. The new genus is similar to Myxotrichum and Toxotrichum in several respects, including the formation of dark-colored ascocarps and dark, septate appendages. The differences among the 3 genera are discussed. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
