Abstract
A number of magnetically dilute Fe3+ compounds of EDTA have been examined by ESR and Mössbauer spectroscopy. At low temperature complicated magnetic hyperfine structure is seen in the Mössbauer spectra, and this is considerably sharpened by application of spin decoupling fields of order 100 G. Mössbauer measurements are in good agreement with calculated spectra based on crystal field splittings derived from the ESR spectra. Measurements made on frozen solutions indicate that the crystal field splittings are solvent dependent. Keywords
