Abstract
The virulence of 2 strains of C. immitis was evaluated by intracerebral inoculation in albino mice. The LD50 was computed according to Reed and Muench, and the number of fungus particles representing the LD50 was established by plate counts. Errors inherent in the method were taken into consideration by treating the results statistically. The LD50 for the 2 strains was found to be between 1 to 6 and 1 to 9 fungus particles, respectively. These values do indicate that these 2 strains differ in virulence. Keywords
