Notizen: Eine einfache Vorschrift zur Isolierung von Thymidin über 3′.5′-Dibenzoyl-thymidin aus Desoxyribonucleinsäure

Abstract
Thymidine was isolated from the desoxyribonucleic acid from herring sperm by first benzoylating in pyridine the mixture of all the desoxyribosides in the sperm and then heating in dilute sulfuric acid-dioxane under a layer of dipropyl ether. After separating the hot dipropyl ether 3''.5''-dibenzoylthymidine crystallized out. This was redissolved and recrystallized and then by saponification with barium methylate pure crystalline thymidine was at once obtained.
