Abstract
Four problems found in the developmental verbal dyspraxia (DVD) literature are outlined. The four problems relate to similarities between studies on DVD and the general phonological research, disagreement between authorities on the characteristics of DVD, inconsistent and incomplete subject description and qualification and the failure to follow the sequence of the scientific method. It is suggested that more emphasis be placed on descriptive studies. More precise description will lead to reliable classification of subgroups and a relevant and testable explanation of DVD.Keywords
