Multiplication of Poliomyelitis Virus in Monkey Tissues Grafted onto Chorioallantois of Chick Embryos

Abstract
Successful cultivation of all 3 immunologic types of poliomyelitis virus in monkey kidney and skin tissues grafted onto embryonated egg membrane is reported. In one series Type I virus, LS-b strain, was cultivated tor 12 consecutive passages. The virus was found in high titer in the grafted tissue and also disseminated in lower concentration into the allantoic fluid in the chorioallantoic membrane and in the embryo. This technique is being further explored for useful laboratory applications.
