Abstract
The influence of purified bovine parathyroid hormone (PTH) added in vitro on the oxygen consumption of isolated rat renal tubules was studied. PTH did not alter significantly endogenous tubule cell respiration, but when cellular oxidation was inhibited by oligomycin B, an inhibitor of oxidative phosphorylation, the hormone stimulated oxygen consumption by 33% (pEndocrinology75: 277, 1964)Keywords
