Abstract
Basing on new experimental results on nonlinear transmission of photosynthetic particles measured with the pump‐ and probe‐beam technique a reaction kinetic three‐level model involving one‐ and two‐particle excitations is developed to describe the observed phenomena quantitatively. It is shown that the nonlinear effects are caused by a competition between the one‐ and two‐particle excitations. The physical nature of the two‐particle excitations is discussed as well their role in a coherent energy transfer process in photosynthetic membrane. Keywords
