Abstract
EDITOR, - T Cundy and colleagues again report the theoretical risk of oestrogen deficiency and osteoporosis in long term users of depot medroxyprogesterone acetate.1 Their previous study2 was criticised on methodological grounds,3 and the issue has not yet been resolved. As before, their small study is cross sectional rather than prospective. Once again, we do not know the bone densities of the women before they used depot medroxyprogesterone acetate.
