Altered substrate specificity of herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase confers acyclovir-resistance

Abstract
The isolation of an acyclovir resistant mutant which induces a thymidine kinase of altered substrate specificity is described. The virus retains mouse pathogenicity with only a slight attenuation of neurovirulence.Keywords
