Abstract
SINCE Reginald Fitz,1 in 1886, recognized and described the syndrome of acute appendicitis, many entities have been considered in its differential diagnosis. On exploration of a patient with the preoperative diagnosis of acute appendicitis, we discovered thrombophlebitis of the right ovarian vein. Because of the rarity of this condition and because it could not, on clinical grounds, be distinguished from acute appendicitis, we considered this case worthy of record.Case ReportA 28-year-old gravida 1, para 1, entered the hospital because of constant right-lower-quadrant pain of 2 days' duration. The pain, which was gradual in onset, became progressively more severe . . .Keywords
