Abstract
The influence of compound 194 (N-benzyl N-beta-pheny-lisopropyl-beta-chloroethylamine) on the pressor effects of a number of aromatic and aliphatic amines in anesthetized cats is described. There also were studies of the effects of 194 on nerve-induced and drug-induced contractions of the nictitating membrane. 194 was administered by slow intraven. infusion in doses of 15-25 micro-mols./kg. Pressor amines were injd. rapidly intraven. In general, prior infusion of 194 reduced or prevented the blood pressure elevations by the pressor compds. and produced or augmented depressor effects. Drug-induced nictitating membrane contractions were more effectively opposed by 194 than were neurogenic contractions. Keywords
