Abstract
The distribution of Jaccard’s coefficient of similarity is shown to be asymptotically normal when the individuals in samples from each population are assumed to follow equiprobable multinomial distributions. An expression is given for the joint distribution of the statistics involved in Jaccard’s index for underlying multinomials with all categories equally likely except one. Keywords
