Abstract
Twenty-two species of fleas have hitherto been recorded as occurring in the New Zealand subregion. A further twelve species or subspecies are described as new and added to the New Zealand list: Parapsyllus lynnae alynnae, Parapsyllus lynnae mariae, Parapsyllus nestoris antichthones, Parapsyllus mangerensis, Parapsyllus struthophilus, Parapsyllus valedictus, N otiopsylla corynetes, Notiopsylla enciari regula, Notiopsylla kerguelensis tenuata, Notiopsylla peregrinus, Hoogstraalia imberbis, and Pygiopsylla phiola. Some notes are given on the origin of the flea-fauna of these islands, and a fully illustrated key is provided for the determination of the 34 taxa of fleas now known from the subregion.
