Abstract
A waveguide electro-optic TE-TM mode converter is demonstrated. The polarization conversion is independent of the operating wavelength and is compatible with a nontunable laser source. A high extinction ratio of more than 25 dB is reported. The device is fabricated on an X-cut, Z-propagation, Ti-indiffused LiNbO3 waveguide and is immune to the optical damage problem which normally limits the optical power handling capability of LiNbO3 devices. Keywords
