Abstract
A precision regulator for annealing of polarised-electron field emitters without thermal overshoot is described. It is implemented by means of a microprocessor board which is used in the same experiment as a multichannel scaler for measurement and differentiation of retarding-field electron energy distributions. The same microprocessor board can be equipped with several counter inputs for setting up a multiple-input multichannel scaler with which energy-selective electron spin polarisation measurements can be performed.
