Abstract
The 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire was completed by 146 female patients at an alcoholism clinic. Factor analysis produced 6 factors which accounted for > 50% of the variance. The predominant source traits of the women in the 6 groups were as follows: a passive-impulsive neurotic style (35); an introverted obsessive-compulsive neurotic style (33); a paranoid style (26); a schizoid personality (22); a trait disorder with psychopathy (11); and an extraverted obsessive-compulsive neurotic style (18). Five of the 6 personality types (the first 4 and the last) resemble those found in studies of male alcoholics by Nerviano. The finding of several neurotic styles and personality disorders among female alcoholics has implications for treatment planning. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
