Abstract
A technique is described which measures changes in the gain of a photomultiplier, allowing an accurate correction for these to be made to estimated light intensities obtained from photon counting experiments. The principle of the method is outlined, and practical methods for the determination of the parameters required are described. An example of the application of the technique to the study of the fatigue effect in a venetian blind photomultiplier is also given. Keywords
