Abstract
CALCIFIED ear cartilages are rarely encountered. They have been reported most often in patients who were otherwise well,1 2 3 4 but on occasion they have been found in patients with metabolic disorders.1 , 5 6 7 Although calcification of other cartilaginous structures have been reported in hypercalcemic states, calcification of the pinnae has not been described, nor has hypercalcemia been reported in any case of calcification of the ear cartilages. The following case is of additional interest in that the patient was known to have had sarcoidosis and hypercalcemia with renal impairment nine years before adrenocorticosteroids were given, and his renal function did not deteriorate appreciably . . .
