Abstract
The results of this study indicate a decreased acth output of the anterior pituitary in the aged in response to epinephrine administration. The ability of the adrenal cortex to secrete hormones of the 11-17-oxysteroid group under acth stimulation is, however, not grossly impaired in senescence. The renal handling of uric acid in response to adrenal cortical “s” is altered in the aged.
