Abstract
To support further the hypothesis that the thyroid will selectively filter from the blood not only iodine but all the elements of the seventh periodic group, a study of the behavior of rhenium is described. It is found that after injecting a single dose of HRe*O4* (radioactive Re containing Re186 and Re188), the concn. of Re* in the thyroid is 25 to 1000 more times greater than in any other tissue. The greatest Re* concn. in tissues occurs in one hour, decreasing slowly for several hours and then more rapidly so that little remains after a day. More than 90% of the Re* given is excreted in the urine in 24 hours. Keywords
