Abstract
A comparative theoretical analysis of the covalent electron transfer in various alkali chlorides and bromides, doped with V2+, is presented. Using previously studied EPR and optical measurements, it is found that, in spite of the striking difference in spin‐Hamiltonian parameters, the spin density (fractional electron transfer) is of the order of 3% in both the chlorides and bromides which were studied. More systematic differences in the normalized admixture coefficients are observed when, for the same ligand, the interionic distance is increased. Keywords
