Abstract
The interface response functions for alloy solidification were measured in the nondegenerate regime of partial solute trapping. We used a new technique to measure temperatures and velocities simultaneously during rapid solidification of Si‐As alloys induced by pulsed laser melting. In addition, partition coefficients were determined using Rutherford backscattering. The results are in good agreement with predictions of the Continuous Growth Model without solute drag of M. J. Aziz and T. Kaplan [Acta Metall. 36, 1335 (1988)] and are inconsistent with all solute drag models. Keywords
