Abstract
The distribution and retention of radioactivity in various organs of the rat was investigated following injection of tritiated folic acid and, for comparison, tritiated H2O. After an injection of 1 mCi folic acid, liver received the highest dose, about 90 rems, followed by kidney, 65 rems, and bone marrow, 15 rems. For tritiated H2O, the rat body received a fairly uniform dose of about 12 rems/mCi. On the basis of the recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection, it is suggested that tritiated folic acid is about twice as toxic as tritiated H2O.This publication has 19 references indexed in Scilit:
