Abstract
The structure of local operators linear in the creation and destruction operators of a finite number of particles is investigated. It is shown that these operators determine a set of local and relatively local free fields relative to which the original operators are local. This result is used to study local internal symmetries in a theory of interactions and to show that these symmetries commute with the Lorentz group. The assumptions of Haag and Ruelle which lead to a complete particle interpretation are also discussed. Asymptotic many‐particle states are constructed under less restrictive assumptions. Keywords
