Abstract
The study examined differences in ratings by males and females of the social images of seven disadvantaged groups in employment situations: women, hippies, North American Indians, ex-criminals, ex-mental patients, Negroes, and mental retardates. Average adults were also rated for comparative data. A 67-item Osgood-type rating scale yielded significant over-all differences between ratings by men and women of: women, hippies, mental retardates, and average adults. There were non-significant differences in the ratings of North American Indians, ex-criminals, ex-mental patients, and Negroes. Keywords
