Abstract
Absorption of Salmonella pullorum antibody was studied both pre and postpartum in puppies. Absorption appeared optimum if antibody was fed to the puppies 8 hr after birth, was almost complete 15 hr after the feeding and was not detectable if fed 24 hr after birth. Progesterone, hydrocortisone, and Metopirone injected into puppies prior to administration of antibody did not significantly alter antibody absorption. Puppies from bitches treated 24 hr prepartum with hydrocortisone or ACTH had significantly reduced antibody absorption. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
