Abstract
Ribbons of pure decagonal ( x=0 and 0.3, have been prepared. The x-ray diffractogram has been indexed with a basis vector set that is closely related to the icosahedral set. A Mössbauer-effect study shows that the local iron environment in decagonal phase alloys is similar but less asymmetric than that in icosahedral alloys.
