EFFECT OF ELIMINATION OF SUPPRESSOR CELLS ON DEVELOPMENT OF DNCB CONTACT SENSITIVITY IN GUINEA-PIGS

Abstract
The effect of suppressor cells on formation of effector cells was studied by comparing the development of DNCB [dinitrochlorobenzene] contact sensitivity in cyclophosphamide-treated (suppressor cells eliminated) and nontreated (suppressor cell containing) guinea-pigs. From experiments in 4 different models of generation of effector cells the following conclusions were drawn: impulses activating the formation of effector cells activate suppressor cells; under conditions of conventional immunization, suppressor cells are activated later than effector cells and elimination of suppressor cells results in an increase in intensity and duration of specific skin reactions.This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
