Abstract
A study of proton hole states in neutron rich nuclei near has been carried out using the (,) reaction. Targets of and were bombarded with a beam of 17 MeV polarized tritons and the reaction particles detected in a quadrupole-three-dipole spectrometer. Only the decays of the residual nuclei, and , have been previously observed. The results indicate a smooth trend with of the proton single particle states observed in this region, except for . Examination of this nucleus indicates a strong tendency towards deformation.
