Abstract
The shallow inshore water masses around the Cape coast are mixed with regard to temperature and frequently experience marked fluctuations. We needed a device giving a continuous record of in situ temperature to investigate its effect on the reproductive behaviour of Parechinus angulosus Leske, a common local sea urchin. Commercial temperature recorders were enclosed in watertight housings designed for the purpose and installed on the sea-bed at the study sites. Keywords
