Positronium Hyperfine Splitting: Analytical Value atO(mα6)

Abstract
We present an analytic calculation of the O(mα6) recoil corrections to the hyperfine splitting (HFS) of the ground state energy levels in positronium. We find ΔErec=mα6(16lnα+331432ln2417ζ(3)8π2+512π2)mα6(16lnα+0.37632), confirming Pachucki's numerical result [Phys. Rev. A 56, 297 (1997)]. We present a complete analytic formula for the O(mα6) HFS of the positronium ground state and, including O(mα7ln2α) effects, find [E(13S1)E(11S0)]theory=203392.01(46)MHz. This differs from the experimental results by about 3 standard deviations.
