Abstract
An absorption current flowing in ordinal dielectrics monotonically decreases with time. However the current flowing in liquid crystals behaves more complexly. After switching on higher applied voltage, the current first decreases, and then tends to increase with a rather long relaxation time. This increasing phenomenon is explained by the electric double layer model. The phenomenon can be understood as an influence of discharge current according to the decrease of capacitance by reverse electric field due to the double layer. This relaxation time agrees with that of the ion drift, 6s, estimated in a previous paper.
