Abstract
Spin-echo NMR and saturation magnetisation studies indicate the presence of B-site canting in the spinel ferrites GaxFe1-xNiCr1-yAlyO4. The average canting angle, theta B, is found to increase with both increasing x and increasing y indicating a decrease, on the average, of the ratio A-B over B-B interaction upon dilution. Whereas the Ga3+ ions provide magnetic dilution only for the A site, the Al3+ ions dilute both the A and B sites. The B-lattice magnetisation is found to be always larger than the A-lattice magnetisation. Keywords
