Abstract
In studies on the control of rice field mosquitoes in Bolivar County, Mississippi, in 1952–53, observations indicated that the dieldrin treatments employed were highly effective against the larvae of rice water weevil, Lissorhoptrus orysophilus Ksl. Airplane applications of dieldrin emulsion at rates of 0.5 or 1.0 pound per acre almost completely eliminated weevil infestations in rice fields (48 to 100 acres) during the entire 9- to 10-week test period. Small plot tests with dieldrin as an emulsion, impregnated pellets, or as a seed treatment, also were highly effective. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
