Abstract
EPR techniques have been used to investigate the (FeF6)4 complex in KMgF3:Fe2+ which is a Jahn-Teller system. From the observed 19F hyperfine structure the covalent spin transfer parameters are deduced and hence the contribution from covalency to the observed reduction in the g-value is calculated. It is found that covalency effects are fairly small and that most of the reduction is attributable to Jahn-Teller effects. Keywords
