Abstract
Velocity derivatives obtained in atmospheric boundary layers over the open ocean are analyzed for correspondence to the lognormal distribution. The squared velocity derivative is found to be not lognormal, but its average over an interval within inertial subrange demonstrates excellent lognormality. Keywords
