Effect of Dilantin Sodium on Tensile Strength of Healing Wounds.

Abstract
The systemic administration of Dilantin Sodium (phenytoin) in 3 separate experiments significantly increased the tensile strength of healing wounds in rats. This is probably a result of increased collagenization and is compatible with the phenomenon of gingival hyperplasia which often occurs in epileptics receiving this drug.
