Abstract
It is shown that several two-body unitary transformations which arise in the theory of meson-exchange currents can change the percentage state of the deuteron, implying that this percentage is not a measurable quantity. The connection of these transformations to meson-exchange contributions to the quadrupole moment, rms radius, magnetic moment, and the asymptotic ratio of the deuteron is discussed.
