Abstract
Correlated structure has been found in the forward-angle excitation functions of the reactions. An attempt is made based on the strong correlations observed to determine the origin of the structure. It is found that several explanations including statistical fluctuations, direct mechanisms, and the population of isolated high-spin yrast states are unlikely.
