Abstract
The pinning of a domain wall by an external potential is studied in the solid-on-solid limit of the -dimensional inhomogeneous Ising ferromagnet. Analyzing a field theoretic generalization of this model, we show that, if the pinning potential is applied near the edge of the system, a localization-delocalization transition occurs for all . Results for singular behavior of the surface tension, correlation length, and interface moments are derived.
