Abstract
Summary: The susceptibility of Shigellae to a small group of antibiotic-producing E. coli strains is related to type-specificity. Shigella sonnei strains proved the most susceptible, and Shigella paradysenteriae type VI the most resistant. With the eleven active E. coli strains tested, two patterns of such relationship were observed. The geographic sources of the Shigellae were not related to the above phenomena. Keywords
