Abstract
Information that contributes to understanding of processes that participate in the perception of and responses to pain has expanded rapidly in the last decade. Much of this information and many clinical observations demand new conceptual frameworks within which to modify and expand classical teachings of pain pathways and mechanisms. In this review, some of these new dimensions are considered. The limited references serve as an introduction to more comprehensive original and review material. Keywords
