Abstract
A com-mercially prepared formalin-inactivated vaccine containing antigens of types 3, 4, and 7 adenoviruses was administered intramuscularly to 20% of 14,000 newly arriving recruits from January to April 1956. A 65% reduction in hospitalized respiratory disease was observed in the vaccinated group as compared to the controls, excluding the experience of the first 2 weeks after vaccination. No difference in the reporting of afebrile respiratory illness was observed. Keywords
