Abstract
Heat capacity measurements below 4.2°K have been made on a series of high-purity alloys covering the entire phase of the copper-zinc system. The density-of-states at the Fermi surface is found to rise initially with increasing zinc concentration in qualitative agreement with previous data. This behavior is not consistent with the rigid band model nor with the model proposed by Cohen and Heine. Alternative explanations of the alloying behavior are considered. The variation of the Debye temperature with solute concentration is in good agreement with that found from low-temperature elastic data.
