Abstract
The ingestion of glycine or alanine in man is without effect on the hourly output of uric acid or creatinine. A purine-free protein meal (egg white or cheese) is similarly without effect on the hourly excretion of these endogenous catabolites. Both urinary uric acid and creatinine are thus independent of the creatine-creatinine and purine-free protein content of a diet. It is suggested that the calorific value of the diet is an important factor affecting both uric acid and creatinine metabolism. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
