Abstract
TOR plays a key role in cell growth and cell-cycle progression, but in addition recent studies have shown that TOR is also involved in the regulation of a number of molecular processes associated with nutrient deprivation, such as autophagy. In budding yeast, TOR negatively regulates activation of Apg1 protein kinase, which is essential for the induction of autophagy. This review describes recent research in this field and the mechanism by which TOR mediates induction of autophagy. Keywords
