Abstract
The Euantennariaceae and the Metacapnodiaceae are two new families of sooty moulds which have hyphomycetous conidial states, distinguishing them from the Capnodlaceae sensu stricto in which the conidial states are pyenidial. In the Euantennariaceae, all species investigated have the Dothidea centrum development while in the Metacapnodiaceae, centrum development is of the Pleospora type. The Pleospora centrum of the Metacapnodiaceae differs from the centrum of Pleospora herbarum only in one minor detail; in the Metacapnodiaceae, the pseudoparaphyses remain relatively short and do not reach the base of the centrum locule. Keywords
