Abstract
The active permanent magnet suspension (APMS) is presented and reviewed as a suitable means for laboratory and industrial realisation of non-contacting devices. Static and dynamic properties of axial and radial APMS rotary systems are discussed. A gas friction detector and a molecular beam chopper are described as typical scientific instrument applications. Keywords
