Abstract
The granular bodies which develop in cells of Azotobacter consist of volutin and fat. Appearances resembling conjugation of cells are due to incompleted fission. The "symplasm" consists of gum, empty cell walls, fat bodies, volutin balls, and cellular elements. Transmutation to cells of a different type cultivable as such did not occur in any of the several strains tested. Tests for filtrability gave negative results. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
